Western Florida Destination Guide
Western Florida Transportation
If you want to fly to the Panhandle, it may be difficult to get to your destination without a short drive. Jacksonville International airport has daily flights from around the country, so it is your best bet for visiting the Eastern Panhandle. Mobile (AL) Regional Airport only has connecting flights from Houston, Dallas, Memphis, Atlanta, Charlotte and Orlando. So if you're traveling from one of these cities it might be closer to your destination. Smaller airports exist in Destin, Panama City and Tallahassee, but often their flights schedules vary from season to season.
If you are driving from the North, you'll probably have to take a series of small highways once you get in the vicinity of your destination. If you are coming from elsewhere in the South, you might want to take I-10, which runs from Los Angeles, through Arizona, Texas and through the Florida panhandle. If you are headed to somewhere along Florida's Coast, try taking Highway 98, which is a bit more scenic as it runs along Florida's Gulf Coast through Destin, Laguna Beach, Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach.
